Note, at the public meeting metro admitted there is no body of evidence that
suggests the alarms work.   And because we don't know, there is also the
risk that the alarms could potentially prove fatal as both drivers and the
public try to tune it out.  

A much better system would be one that alerts the driver to the danger.
After all, it is the driver who is ultimately responsible and shifting the
responsibility to those in the right of way, as my friend and colleauge who
was killed, is not the solution.   I can appreciate the effort put forth by
Metro, but I am happy this experiment in audible alarms has ended before
investing any more precious resources towards it.   Hopefully the public
will be better engaged if new solutions are brought forth for testing.
