Hello friends & family, There are so many causes to care about and so many good organizations to donate to. So why would you donate <https://madisonbikes.nationbuilder.com/donate> to a local bicycle advocacy organization in Madison, WI?
I am honored to be on the board of Madison Bikes <http://www.madisonbikes.org/about>, a two-year old, homegrown, all volunteer-run, non-profit, local bicycling advocacy organization. What do we at Madison Bikes do? We think hard about how to make transportation bicycling better for everyone in Madison - people of all ages and abilities. We show up at public meetings, we put on fun and educational events throughout the year, and we provide resources for folks to voice their concerns and learn how to advocate for improved conditions right where they live and work. Making Madison, WI a better city to bike in is a way to make a real, tangible difference in people's lives on the community level. The community level is where our actions can make a noticeabe impact. Connecting neighborhoods, redesigning and improving unsafe intersections, and providing convenient and pleasant cycling corridors that add up to a low-stress cycling network help us get to our schools and jobs, shop at local businesses, attend public meetings, and engage more with all the neighborhoods in our city. Bicycles are an integral part of a sustainable way forward. They bring people together, and keep more of us healthy and active throughout our lives. As you already know, I am passionate about bicycling and love it unto itself. Even more than making a donation, I'd encourage you to get on a bike and feel the joy of moving under your own power, seeing the world pass by on a human scale, heading out into nature, or shopping at your local businesses in town. In the grand scheme of things, Madison Bikes is a tiny local organization, yet somehow it feels like more. As a small group, we are learning to use and improve best practices in Madison so that we can be a pioneer city, a city that provides a positive example for other communities. When we look to each other to learn and to grow we know we are being the best we can be. The Madison Bikes board has contributed $1000 of our own to match your end-of-year donations. If you have $5 to give, it will become $10. Make your small donation here <https://madisonbikes.nationbuilder.com/donate> to Madison Bikes, and watch it go the distance in making a difference in Madison and beyond. In gratitude, India Founding Board Member, Madison Bikes <http://www.madisonbikes.org/> *...envisioning a city where anyone can ride a bicycle conveniently and comfortably, year round.* MadisonBikes.org <http://www.MadisonBikes.org> [email protected] Follow Madison Bikes on Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/groups/MBIIC/>
