One of the arguments in favor of keeping car parking on both sides of
the street is the increase of business and residential development,
which increases the demand for car parking. I think the best counter
argument is that we should not be using our transportation
right-of-way for storage of private property.

Council meeting begins at 6:30. I think you can show up then and comment
early.

Also on the agenda tonight is Mayor Soglin's veto of the Winnebago St
reconstruction, which would have included buffered bike lanes. It's
probably safe to assume that a lot of residents who would be affected by
the reduction in on-street parking have submitted comments to the council.
So please also consider writing to your alder in support of Option
2/overturning the mayor's veto.
