Granted, this is the first time in years that I've cycle-commuted in winter. But I don't remember path conditions being as bad back then as they were today (Wed), both AM and PM. Esp. given this is the first "real" snowfall of the season, this does not bode well. This is on the Cap City west of Ingersoll, and the "missing link" and Southwest out to Midvale. Yesterday (Tue), things were a bit sketchy, but reasonably passable. It had been plowed, but had fresh snow that had been compacted by foot and cycle traffic. My WAG is that someone was sent out late Monday, while the snow was still falling, to plow what had fallen so far, but did not want to pay to have someone plow again on New Year's Day AFTER the last of the snowfall.

Wed AM, the inbound side of the Cap City had been sanded, but nothing more had been plowed. By afternoon, it had turned to rutted cobblestone. It was better on the streets; even the unplowed streets at least had fairly smooth flat snow.

I **HOPE** this was an exception, based on it being a holiday and the timing of the snowfall. Or is this the level of maintenance / commuting conditions we can expect "for the duration"?
