Starting on Monday, April 8, Terra Engineering & Construction will close West
Dayton Street between North Charter Street and North Park Street as part of a
University of Wisconsin steam tunnel project.

Included in the project is a full reconstruction of West Dayton Street, which
includes storm sewer, underground MG&E utilities, water main, asphalt pavement
replacement and spot curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement.

The West Dayton Street closure is expected to last through October.

Due to the location of the steam tunnel, the sidewalk on the north side of West
Dayton Street will be closed for the duration of the project. The sidewalk on
the south side of West Dayton Street will remain open for the duration of the
project.

Bikes will be detoured to the Southwest Commuter Path. Westbound cyclists will
be directed to use East Campus Mall to reach the Southwest Path and eastbound
cyclists will be directed to Charter St (or Orchard when construction needs to
occurs on the Charter St intersection).
