I would think named-checkzone would complain, but are you missing a new line after the last NS record?

After commenting out below entries & rndc reload , all back to normal. ;test IN NS ns1973.hostgator.com<http://ns1973.hostgator.com/>. ;test IN NS ns1974.hostgator.com<http://ns1974.hostgator.com/>.
