This says "contact a nameserver on 127.0.0.1:1053 for unlisted / unknown names". > > # to use "nameserver 127.0.0.1" in resolv.conf(5) This says the system resolver client should contact a nameserver on 127.0.0.1:53 for name resolution. In this case that nameserver would be dnsmasq. > > no-resolv > > ... > > > listen-on port 1053 { 127.0.0.1; }; This says "named listens on 127.0.0.1:1053". > Are both of these listening on port 1053? No. It would not have been useful in that case, because resolver clients generally want to use port 53. > That ain't gonna work. Put one > of them back on 53 or on some other port such as 2053. It was assumed, perhaps wrongly, that the dnamasq configuration wasn't mangled to the point of not listening on port 53. When that assumption is valid, this does indeed work fine. -- http://rob0.nodns4.us/ -- system administration and consulting Offlist GMX mail is seen only if "/dev/rob0" is in the Subject: _______________________________________________ Please visit https://lists.isc.org/mailman/listinfo/bind-users to unsubscribe from this list bind-users mailing list bind-users@lists.isc.org https://lists.isc.org/mailman/listinfo/bind-users
