I've long since stopped getting bothered by sloppy language like this, 
ever since people started using "IP" as short for "IP address", or using 
"class A, B, C" to refer to /8, /6, and /24 prefixes, rather than the 
original address ranges.

The context always makes it clear when root == apex.
