Job Posting: Postdoctoral Researcher in terrestrial bioacoustics The Bioacoustics Research Group, part of the Department of Biology at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY (http://parkslab.syr.edu/), is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join our group to bring new ideas, approaches and analytical methods to the analysis of passive acoustic data collected from terrestrial ecosystems. The work in the lab is focused on the ecological role of acoustic communication and the impacts of noise on communication in both marine and terrestrial environments. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in terrestrial bioacoustics and an interest in developing new analytical methods related to long-term acoustic recordings.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute in two main areas: 1. Acoustic data collection, analysis, and publication of results from a recently funded study on long-term acoustic monitoring. 2. Development of new methods to analyze and visualize long-term passive acoustic datasets. Preferred Qualifications: · PhD in Biology, Ecology or similar field with strong analytical skills in acoustic signal processing and/or statistical analysis. · Three or more years experience in analysis of acoustic datasets, as evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed journals. How to apply: Applications can be submitted online at the following site: https://www.sujobs.com/. (Search for Position number 070774). A complete application package should include a brief description of past research accomplishments and future goals, CV, PDFs of two publications, and contact information for three professional references.
