The Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilot Projects, funded by the National Cancer
Institute, are available to explore the paradigm of colocalizing massive
genomics datasets, like The Cancer Genomics Atlas (TCGA), alongside secure and
scalable computational resources to analyze them and to apply cloud-scale
technologies to increase NCI genomics data value. The Institute for Systems
Biology has established one of the Cloud Pilots and will be presenting an
overview.

What: ISB-GCG Cloud Pilot: Overview and making the most of BigQuery
Where: Bldg 37, Room 4041/4107
When: Friday, November 18, 2:00pm-4:00pm

This seminar will be two seminars in one. In the first hour of the seminar,
Dr. Todd Pihl will will present a general overview, meant for biologists and
informatics folks alike, of the features of the ISB Cancer Cloud Pilot
including a tour of the web interface and capabilities to investigate TCGA data
and a brief introduction on how to interact with the system programmatically.
The second hour of the seminar is meant for an informatics audience and will
focus on usage of Google’s BigQuery system to query and analyze TCGA data.
This overview will be independent of any programming language and instead focus
on understanding how to use the various parts of BigQuery. You are welcome to
attend all or just part of the session based on interest.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer this as a webinar. Feel free to contact
me if you have questions or comments.

Thanks,
Sean
