wednesday afternoon, from windsor marina, the river was full of the usual group of ducks, this time joined by an adult white-winged scoter. the bird was right in front of the windsor yacht club, then about a 1/2 hour later was in the mouth of the little river, very close to shore. the eagles were still on peche island, but this time i saw only 1 adult, and 1 immature. also, tundra swans have returned to the detroit river. there are a few at the mouth of little river, and many more just east of peche island on the ice.
also, in little river just underneath the first bridge, there were thousands upon thousands of dead fish - someone said they were chad(?) and the temperature change had caused them all to die....very strange sight though. the river was covered in them, packed side by side all the way across (30 feet) and about 60 feet down the length of the river. but odly enough, there were still plenty of live ones beneath the dead ones, and they could be seen through the open patches of water. windsor marina is on riverside drive at riverdale (a few km east of lauzon road), and sand point beach is the best place to view the eastern edge of peche island. park in the little turnaround loop at the east end of the beach. -matt baker [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Matthew Baker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
