Hi all!
At about 5pm on Sunday I saw an adult Little Gull and 2 Bonaparte's Gulls from the boat ramp at Queenston. They were easy to pick out as there were only 50/70 gulls in the area. The Beck overlook also had very few birds and I only saw Ring-billed and a few Herring Gulls here. At the control gates were 2 Horned Grebes and at Chippewa 2 Red-necked Grebes. It was dusk by the time we got to Fort Erie, but there were at least 15/20 Red-necked Grebes "between the bridges". We had stopped at Fruitland, Frederick and Victoria Streets on our way, but had no luck with the King Eider - maybe I'll find it later this week. On Saturday I joined some 15 hardy souls from South Peel Naturalists on our annual "Swan Pilgrimage"(led by Mark Cranford) and were rewarded with about 70/80 Tundra Swans in 4 flocks. We also had a Northern Shrike, Rough-legged Hawk and Merlin(very obliging female perched treetop while all had "killer" scope views) at Turkey Point. Not much other than a few RW Blackbirds at Old Cut, but the Screech Owl obligingly had its head out of the box on Concession A. We finished the trip at Brantford airport with 4 Gray Partridge under the "white sign" - they flew over to the cedars inside the fence and fed there while we all enjoyed great scope views of these often elusive birds.
                          Cheers! Maris
