Highlights of the many reports received from the Niagara
Frontier Region during the past two weeks, April 10 through
24, include VERMILLION FLYCATCHER, ROSS'S GOOSE, GR. WHITE-
FR. GOOSE, LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and GOLDEN EAGLE.

April 19, at the western edge of the BOS study area, south
of Cayuga, Ontario, a female VERMILLION FLYCATCHER was
reported one day only, in a barnyard on Irish Lane Road. If
verified, this would be the first record of this species
from the southwestern US and Mexico, in the BOS territory.

Three rare species from the Lake Ontario Plains. April 22, a
ROSS'S GOOSE in a small flock of CANADA GEESE along Carmen
Road in the Niagara County Town of Hartland. April 13, a GR.
WHITE-FR. GOOSE on Niagara-Orleans Countyline Road at Route
  18. And a probable LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE also on the 13th at
Route 63 and East Lakeshore Road in the Orleans County Town
  of Yates.

April 20, a well described GOLDEN EAGLE was reported
migrating over Navy Island in the Niagara River off Grand
Island. BROAD-WINGED HAWKS have begun their mass movement to
the north. April 18, 208 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were registered
at the Hamburg Hawkwatch, and on April 19, 1905 BROAD-WINGED
HAWKS and 2 GOLDEN EAGLES among over 2400 raptors. A great
sight in Amherst, during the evening on the 19th, a series
of over 60 low flying TURKEY VULTURES dropping down to roost
  for the night.

Early migrants - BL.-THR. GREEN WARB. April 19 at Goat
Island in Niagara Falls and a reported VEERY on April 20 at
Lakeside Beach State Park in Carlton, which would be a
record early arrival. Many other migrants noted during the
past two weeks - over 300 RED-NECKED GREBES on Lake Ontario,
small flocks of COMMON TERNS on the Niagara River, and
  numerous reports of YELLOW-B. SAPSUCKER, N. ROUGH-W.

WINTER WREN, GOLDEN-CR. KINGLET, RUBY-CR. KINGLET, HERMIT
THRUSH, BROWN THRASHER, YELLOW-R. WARBLER, PINE WARBLER,

The Motor Island heronry is busy with 60 GREAT BLUE HERONS,
  6 GREAT EGRETS and 23 BL.-CR. NIGHT-HERONS. Shorebirds in
the Town of Elba on the West Muckland dirt road off Route 98
included 137 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 71 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 366
