Spring migration trickled on this week with 11 species of warbler plus LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER reported from Shell Park, WINTER WREN, HOUSE WREN, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, EASTERN PHOEBE, and BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER seen at the Willows, and GREAT CRESTED FLYCATHCER, INDIGO BUNTING, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, and BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER reported from Iroguois Heights Conservation Area in Ancaster. With spring migration winding down, our focus changes to nesting season. Hamilton's PEREGRINE FALCONS are well on their way to fledging 3 heathly chicks. Elsewhere, a pair of BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were seen at Rock Chapel, COMMON MOORHEN and PINE WARBLER were on territory near Campbellville, YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK were at Paddy Green Road in Ancaster, while GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, FIELD SPARROW, SAVANNAH SPARROW, BROWN THRASHER, VEERY, WOOD THRUSH, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, and INDIGO BUNTING were heard singing at various locations in Flamborough. Birds on territory at the Currie Tract on Guelph line include GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, INDIGO BUNTING, SCARLET TANAGER, BALTIMORE ORIOLE, GRAY CATBIRD, and CHIPPING SPARROW. Other local reports include a late ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK near Blackheath, 200 BONAPARTES GULLS plus a LITTLE GULL at Bronte Harbour, CERULEAN WARBLER and MAGNOLIA WARBLER in a central Hamilton yard, as well as CEDAR WAXWING and RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD in Dundas. The north shore of Lake Erie was good for migrating shorebirds this past week. Starting at Fisherville Road and travelling towards Grant's Point, observers noted SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, SANDERLING, RUDDY TURNSTONE, DUNLIN, and RED KNOT.
