OFNC BIRD STATUS LINE - JUL 06 2003 AT 3:00 PM

This is Terry Higgins reporting for the Bird Status Line Sunday
July 6'th at 3:00 p.m.

On June 30'th a Black Tern and a Green Heron were seen at Petrie
Island. Also on the 30'th, a report of a Red-shouldered Hawk from
Champlain Lookout in Gatineau Park, plus 4 Upland Sandpiper and an
American Woodcock on Munster Rd. near Franktown Rd.

Still more Upland Sandpiper were reported on July 1'st on Campbell
Rd. and on July 5'th on Service Rd. in the Alfred Bog area.

4 Black-billed Cuckoo were seen on Boundary Rd. near Campbell Rd.
on July 1'st and another on Kettles Rd. the same day.

On the 4'th a Common Loon was spotted on the Rideau River just
south of Mooney's Bay.

On the 6'th an immature Great-crested Cormorant was seen drying
its wings at the pond on Earl Armstrong Rd. Still on the 6'th, 3
Black Tern were reported from Shirley's Bay.

The Peregrine Falcon Watch is over again for another year. The
chick named Solitaire fledged successfully and is the first native
female chick to do so.
