The "pond" on the south side of the road that is in front of the Sobey warehouse is often a great spot to view shorebirds, albeit in small numbers. Consider the following:

Turn north off Victoria St. in Whitby 1 block west of the Iroquois Sports Complex, then westerly in front of the long warehouse until you come to the pond that literally sits astride the roadway.
