Greetings --
Two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were present at the Townsend Sewage Lagoons
this afternoon. Also present was a single AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER,
along with a number of peeps (LEAST, SEMIPALMATED, BAIRD'S), LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, and PECTORAL SANDPIPERS. Waterfowl included approximately
20 RUDDY DUCKS, a CANVASBACK, 4 PINTAILS, and 2 LESSER SCAUP. A
marauding MERLIN caught a BARN SWALLOW mid-air over one of the ponds.
To reach Townsend Sewage Lagoons, Take Hwy 6 south past Caledonia,
turn right at the sign indicating Townsend. At the 4-way stop in
Townsend, turn left, then right at the road just before the abandoned
railway line. The lagoons are on the right -- park well clear of the
entrance.
