Hi Ontbirders, Groups of birders who have looked for the Slaty-backed Gull at the landfill site near Pembroke have not seen the bird since Thursday, Nov 27. If the bird shows up again, i will post details. However, A 1st winter Thayer's Gull and an adult Glaucous Gull were there today along with many Herring Gulls. The Thayer's has been at the landfill since Nov 7 at least. The Glaucous Gull was new today and picked out of the midst by Paul Mackenzie and friends from Kingston. Lake Dore on Hwy 41 north of Eganville is also a good spot to find stray gulls and waterfowl.
The hours of operation at the landfill are posted on their website: http://www.ovwrc.com/ They close Saturday at noon and are closed Sunday. To get to the landfill, drive north of Eganville staying on Hwy 41 for about 14 km., then turn left onto B-Line Rd. Go about 2 km. up the Line travelling around a curve to the left and at the end of the curve turn left onto County Rd 56, also called Woito Station Road. The landfill is on your right about 3 km. down Cty Rd 56. Call ahead to tell them you're coming - (613-735-7537). Good Luck, Chris Michener Golden Lake [EMAIL PROTECTED] PS.
