Jim Pawlicki and I worked Section A of the Buffalo CBC on Sunday and had
several sightings of interest on and near Niagara Falls, on the Ontario
side:
Above the control gates - 2 Red-necked Grebes, 1 female Harlequin Duck, 1
Merlin (the latter two were found by Peter Yoerg)
Below the control gates - 1 adult Bald Eagle, about 15,000 gulls including 6
Lesser Black-backed and 4 Iceland; now imagine them all in the air when the
eagle came over - the blizzard of '03!
Dufferin Islands - drake Pintail and drake Wood Duck
Near the barge - second-hand report of Purple Sandpiper
Feeders at the end of Thomas and Peter streets - one obliging Common
Redpoll, 2 Tufted Titmouse

Our Section A total was 52 species. Birds seen Saturday in this section but
not count day - California Gull, Little Gull.

Sightings elsewhere on the river Sunday included the adult California Gull
back at its usual spot at the power plants, an adult Little Gull in
Lewiston/Queenston, and quite a few Iceland Gulls now in at the power
plants.

Good birding!
