Hi there,
I didn't put a posting on yesterday, since there was only a rumour that it
was seen, but today it was definitely seen, for about 2 hours in the am, at
least. We are all busy, so we won't be able to go over to see if it has an
afternoon visit, and we won't be able to post for the next few days
probably. If anyone sees the bird, maybe they could post. We have put out
seed, so I am pretty sure that the bird will hang around. I will post again
in the near future. The Bilous family say that you can still visit.
BT is unreliable as to time of visiting the feeders, but if you have the
time to wait, you should eventually see it. It appears to come to the feeder
about twice a day, in am, and pm.

You will not believe what happened at our Christmas dinner with our kids
yesterday...
I got out a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine. They were both special
as I had been saving them for a special occasion and had been using my own
bottled wine, but was low in supply. The red was a 1998 French-made Cabernet
Sauvignon, yummy, which I had in my "wine cellar" since about 2000, which we
were given at a retirement party I think. On the front label is a picture of
a pigeon, which I thought would be a wood-pigeon, owing that it was made and
bottled in France. But it was a Band-tailed, and the picture was a rendition
of JJ Audubon's...I looked up the picture in my repro of JJ Audubon's Birds
of America, and there it was, same picture almost...albeit one of the two
pigeons on the page was missing, but same pose and same vegetation... This
is amazing that I would pick out this bottle, that we even had this bottle,
and that it would have the BT pigeon on it...twilight zone???
Anyway, have a great holiday season,
Maybe I can get BT on the 2004 CBC.
Pete

Directions to access the area...

If from Toronto...come west on 401, and take the 402 towards Sarnia, exiting
very soon at the Wonderland exit (100) to London, and head north. About
3-4km north on Wonderland is the Westmount Mall, a large sprawling mall on
the west side of the road. Keep going north just past the mall to a
streetlight indicating Village Green Avenue (one light before Commissioners
Road). Turn left, to the west and proceed for about 5 streets, some from
left, some from right, till you get to Lynngate PLACE (Pl). There is also a
Lynngate Ct but don't go up there. Do not park on this quiet street. Park on
the north(right) side of Village Green. Walk up Lynngate Place to number
120. Go to the RIGHT side of the house, and walk up the driveway of the
nextdoor neighbour's house, #116, along the stone path to the large patio,
at the back of that house. Try to shield yourself behind the tarp "blind"
and the bird will be less skittish. PLEASE STAY OUT OF YARDS.
