Happy New Year Ontbirders, Yesterday, Dec. 30, we saw two Hoary Redpolls in the town of Lanark. They were observed on Hillier Road between the intersection of the main street and the river. The flock they were with, consisting of ~40 Common Redpolls and 2 Pine Siskins, has been coming to feeders for some time. The birds may be easily seen perching on trees in the area.
We had excellent looks at the Hoaries through a scope. Fortunately, they were both classic birds. One had a beautiful pink wash on its breast.
