This afternoon, Bruce Falls and I stopped at Ben McRee Park in Port Credit to
look for the Harlequin Ducks. The ducks were not seen, but in the bay there
were at least 200 Red-necked Grebes. They were spread out in several large
flocks, and while we watched, more flocks were flying in to the bay. I don't
recall ever hearing about such a large concentration of these birds in the
Toronto area, so I thought it was worth posting.
Ben McRee Park is at the foot of Pine Avenue which is the first street west of
Mississauga Road. (Pine Ave. joins Maple Avenue at its south end just before
the park.)

Birders
The thousands of Red-necked (Holboell's) Grebes reported yesterday have
dispersed as of this morning Apr 7. I observed 20-30 well offshore at Ben
Machree Park in Mississauga.
