Greetings: Yesterday at Palleta Park, Burlington, there were about 40 Red-Necked Grebes not far offshore in L. Ontario, west of the park. Species inside the park included a Black Crowned Night Heron, Yellow Rumped Warblers, Ruby Crowned Kinglets and a skulking Hermit Thrush. The warblers were in the cedars, east side of the mansion. It was wet here and there were many snakes.
In contrast, Burlington Bay, at Lasalle Marina, featured about 8 Horned Grebes along with several "duck" species: Common Loon, Red Breasted and Hooded Mergansers, Buffleheads, Scaup, Gadwalls, White Winged Scoters and American Coots. The Loons were very close to the piers and thus easy to observe closely. directions: Paletta Park is on L. Ontario between Appleby and Guelph lines. The Lasalle Marina is at the southern terminus of the Waterdown Road. All three roads have exits off the 403. Free parking, both sites. Wayne and Fran Bullock Ancaster, Ontario [EMAIL PROTECTED]
