All,

Long Point was hoping through all the rain. There were 2 male Hooded Warblers
in the Provincial Park at the end of Hwy #59 as well as a few more in the old
provincial park about 2 km west of the end of Hwy# 59, and at least 3 more at
LPBO's remote field stations in the past few days. Another White-eyed Vireo
was banded (3rd in 4 days) at the Old Cut field station and there has been one
or two in the provincial park in the past few days. A young male Summer
Tanager was on Hastings drive at the base of the point along with hundreds of
White-throated sparrows, and large mixed warbler flocks dominated by Myrtles.
Other highlights around Old Cut and the Provincial Park include Great-crested
Flycatcher, Northern Parula, Golden and Blue-winged Warbler.
There are still a few Purple Finches and Pine Siskins about and a Worm-eating
Warbler was also reported in the area.

For a more detailed synopsis of the migration thus far and a weekly update of
the activity in the Long Point Region visit the LPBO sightings board @
http://www.bsc-eoc.org/lpbo/sightings.html

Good Birding,

Stuart A. Mackenzie

To reach Long Point take Hwy # 59 south from the 401 until you reach the point,
or any other back way you may have from whereever you may be.

Wyoma Fauconnier found a male SUMMER TANAGER at her residence in Vickers
Heights, Thunder Bay, yesterday May 1. It was still there today, flycatching
around the houses on her street (Meryle Ave). If interested, please email me
for directions.
