I was informed of a Lewis's Woodpecker that has been a regular at a bird feeder at a farm 19km on Hwy 617 north of Stratton -a small town on Hwy 11 between Fort Frances and Rainy River in Northwestern Ontario. The bird showed up on or about May 12, I observed and photographed it on May15. (sorry for the delay in posting) Let me know if you are planning to see the bird and I will provide a more precise location and find out if it's still there. The property owners said that they would not object to people dropping by to look at it.
They have a pretty good feeder, other birds included: Sparrows: Chipping, Clay-coloured (1), song, savannah, white-crowned and throated, Harris's (lots of these moving through right now). Red-winged and Yellow-headed blackbird (1) Evening and Rose-breasted Grosbeak Purple finch, goldfinch, and a few other common spp. Lots of sparrows moving through right now, other migrants recently arriving in the area, Palm and Myrtle warbler, hermit thrush -just noticed in my yard, haven't been birding.
