Rondeau Daily Report May20/04

Slow but steady birding for migrants produced some surprises along with the
usual 15 warbler species. A Yellow-throated Warbler was reported from the Tulip
Tree Trail at about 10:30am. This bird was low and quiet. It was re-located
by a second party at about 2pm in the afternoon. Other birds of interest
include an Orchard Oriole, also on the Tulip Tree Trail and a flock of 20
Whimbrel that touched down on the beach by the Visitor Centre for a short stay.

The Friends of Rondeau are sponsoring two guided hikes daily until May 23rd.

The employees of the Cherry Downs Golf Club (north Pickering, ON), on the
north side of Concession 7, east of Brock Rd., west of Westney Rd., would
appreciate hearing from someone who may suggest a means of rescuing a Common
Loon from a very tiny pond, visible from concession 7. I was first seen
there around 11AM on Thursday, May 20, and I saw it at 7PM. I asked the golf
club peoples to keep an eye on the pond in the morrow.

If you have a suggestion please phone the club--- 905-649-5990.
