Rondeau Daily Report May20/04 Slow but steady birding for migrants produced some surprises along with the usual 15 warbler species. A Yellow-throated Warbler was reported from the Tulip Tree Trail at about 10:30am. This bird was low and quiet. It was re-located by a second party at about 2pm in the afternoon. Other birds of interest include an Orchard Oriole, also on the Tulip Tree Trail and a flock of 20 Whimbrel that touched down on the beach by the Visitor Centre for a short stay.
The Friends of Rondeau are sponsoring two guided hikes daily until May 23rd. I was first seen there around 11AM on Thursday, May 20, and I saw it at 7PM. I asked the golf club peoples to keep an eye on the pond in the morrow. If you have a suggestion please phone the club--- 905-649-5990. Doug Lockrey, Whitby
