After viewing the Western Grebe at Fifty Point, Mike and I birded the Stoney Creek lakeshore, at Fruitland Road, we spotted a first-winter male King Eider with a flock of scaup, as we were leaving the Eider flew east so it's probably wise to check other locations along the lake. This bird is very female-like in plumage, except for it's bill, which is a orangish colour. There were all three species of scoters and at least 2 Red-throated Loons on the lake.
Good birding, Kenny Burrell Heidelberg, Ont. Directions: take QEW east, exit at Fruitland road, go north towards the lake and park. -- MZ
