I post this late report because it appears that no other report was sent about this bird after Sunday night, November 7. A birder from Toronto, met in Niagara Falls yesterday, told me that he tried for it earlier in the day and did not see it. The Western Grebe was present in the bay at the Fifty Point Conservation area near the base of Kelson road, Tuesday November 9, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. It could be seen at times feeding at about 75 meters from shore. Other observers, Eric from Hamilton, Andrews (Sorry, I did get get their last names) and a couple other people were present. Eric took pictures. Langis Sirois. Ottawa Directions: From Hamilton, take QEW towards St-Catherines and exit at Fifty Road. Go towards the lake and turn right on N. Service Road. Take Winston on the left, where the road branches off and drive in the Fifty Point Conservation Area (I understand there is a $5.00 charge), or drive through to Kelson Rd, turn left and drive to the end of Kelson where you can park (may not be as safe as the Conservation Area) and walk to the beach (about 300 meters).
