Hi Folks:

Just returned home from the sunny south and while taking a walk around the
guest house property I found a BROWN THRASHER! Although the bird was very
perky I think its days are numbered. It had no tail and the most of the left
wing primaries were droopy. It has trouble flying and my best guess is that
it had recently been mauled by a cat (a common problem in the
neighbourhood).

If anyone is interested in looking for this for their winter list, feel free
to park in our driveway on the south side (note that this side is not
shoveled). Please don't park along the roadside, as the shoulders are soft
and this will rut the lawns. The thrasher was seen in a tangle just south of
the driveway on the west side of the road (where a small trickle of a stream
crosses under the road. If you cant find the bird there, and want to walk on
our property please ring the doorbell first (we may have guests).

Directions to our home in Wheatley, ON are available on our website link

Cheers and happy new year to all.
