My father and I recorded 2 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS in Pine Point Park this
morning. During the period 1982 to 1992 when I birded this area regularly, my
first sightings of this species typically occurred in the period April 20 to
27, except in the spring of 1985 when I had a record on April 16.

Other interesting sightings were 1 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT (they don't usually
come this far up the river), 1 LONG-EARED OWL (a migrant, as none were in this
area this winter)and a remarkable 12 FOX SPARROWS. Both today and yesterday
there were 4 PIED-BILLED GREBES on St. Basil's Pond (that's what I call it) off
Coral Gable Drive, which is the first left off Weston Road north of Sheppard.

Pine Point Park is at the east end of Allenby Ave., which is the first street
east off Islington north of Hwy. 401.
