Hi Everyone
Spent 3 days birding the Niagara River area. Overall, the gull watching
was somewhat quieter than expected. On Nov.26th at Niagara-on-the-Lake did
a count of Bonaparte's Gulls at the fly-past and recorded 4300+ Bonaparte's
Gull from 4:00 p.m. to dusk, no Little Gulls. On November 27th, at 4:00 p.m.
observed a female Harlequin Duck feeding in the surf just at the mouth of
the river. Yesterday, November 28, the Spotted Sandpiper was still present
above the falls near the barge and the Purple Sandpiper was feeding in the
same area. At Dufferin Island parking lot a Tufted Titmouse was seen while
at N.O.T.L. there were 7 Tufted Titmice, 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker and a
Carolina Wren in the Shakespeare Ave. area. We also had two small flocks
(2,3) of Common Redpolls fly over.
good birding
