Since my return in early January from holidays and the return of my computor I can report that at my feeders on 4th Jan I saw a flicker, a song sparrow visits almost daily and for the last few days about 25 redpolls have been visiting my feeders. Birding today along the Niagara Parkway from Fort Erie to Chippawa produced the following birds: BUFFLEHEADS, COMMON GOLDENEYES, numerous rafts of LESSER AND GREATER SCAUPS, MALLARDS, RED BREASTED MERGANSERS, GREATER BLACK BACKED GULL, LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL, numerous REDHEADS, CANVASBACKS, LONGTAIL, 46 TUNDRA SWANS, 2 TRUMPETER SWANS -tag#847 on adult. Swans were mostly between Service Roads 6&7. At Dufferin Islands above the Horsehoe Falls, we found in amongst the large number of MALLARD DUCKS, some BLACK DUCKS and a lone NORTHERN PINTAIL.Also in the trees were CHICKADEES, DOWNY WOODPECKER, and WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH.
