Today at about noon I observed a Shrike in the old orchard area at the extreme east end of Courtneypark Rd, on the western edge of Pearson International Airport. It was at a distance of approximately 10 metres, I was in a moving car, and I had no binoculars with me for a better identification, but the black facial mask did not seem especially pronounced. It began to move as my car slowed, but continued to flit around the trees and bushes in the area.
Directions: Highway 401 to Dixie Rd., north to Courtneypark (4th lights), right (east) approximately 1.5 km. It was seen on the north side of the road just east of the bridge over the creek. (same cedars where the Saw Whet Owl is sometimes found.) A picture was sent to OFO and is available if anyone wants to send me an email. Lynde Shores CA is just west of Whitby off Victoria Street. Take Brock Street exit off 401, go south to Victoria and turn right. Lynde Shrores CA will be on your left just past Cranberry Marsh. Dave Mills
