Hello fellow birders,

At 12:20pm today (April 13, 2006) while watching an impressive Raptor
(mostly Red-tailed Hawk) and SH Crane (around 450) movement I observed
one Whooping Crane amongst a group of about 60 Sandhill Crane. This
bird, like all the other Cranes observed, during this time, came from
Sault Michigan (due south) and crossed the St. Mary's River at Belleview
Park, in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. Once the group crossed the river
they formed a loose (and noisy) kettle and then disappeared into the
clouds. The Whooping Crane was last seen heading North-North East.
towards the Garden River First Nations Reserve, with the other cranes. I
could not see any leg, wing or neck bands/markers on this bird.

New migrants/reports observed since Saturday include:

This morning - April 13th - European Goldfinch, Yellow-rumped Warbler,
American Bittern, Savannah Sparrow, Hermit Thrush and a lot more Winter
Wren, GC Kinglets and Brown Creeper

Between April 8th to 12th - Fox Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, Tree Swallow, E.
Bluebird, N. Flicker, Snow Goose, RN Grebe, Osprey, Cedar Waxwing and
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Sault Ste. Marie is 3.5 hours west of Sudbury along Hwy 17. Belleview
Park is along Queen Street at the foot of Lake Street.

Good Birding
