Migrant wave at Thickson's Woods this morning. Lots of flycatchers, sparrows,
vireos, grosbeaks, tanagers and warblers including Canada, bay-breasted,
Tennessee and blackpoll.

Directions to Thickson's Woods

To get to Thickson's Woods, Exit from #401 to Thickson Rd. S. Continue south
about 1.5 kilometres to the Waterfront Trail, where you will see a large green
sign on your left that says "Thickson's Woods Nature Reserve". Park along the
east side of Thickson Road and walk east along the Waterfront Trail about 200
metres to where a pathway enters the woods on your right. Trails lead through
the woods with two extending to the roadway on the south side of the woods
along the shore of Lake Ontario.

The entrance to the meadow portion of the reserve is on the north side of
the Waterfront Trail opposite the entrance to the woods.

Finally a sunny morning here at Rondeau, there seems to have
been some movement over night but no large numbers of birds
reported so far.
Early this morning there was a male Summer Tanager spotted
on the South Point Trail near the tip. Also seen on South
Point were Orchard Oriole, Pileated Woodpecker, Cape May
Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Tufted Titmouse and a few
Red-headed Woodpeckers.
Prothonotary Warbler along with the usual mix of spring
Warblers were seen fro the Tulip Tree Trail.
So far this morning there has been a constant push of Blue
Jays coming in off of the lake.
Later yesterday afternoon there was a female Blue Grosbeak
seen just south of the Park Store.

Good Birding,

Ross Wood

This morning has been clear with Sunshine and 15 - 25 km per hour West
winds.

Gull species yesterday evening at the Tip included Iceland, Laughing, and
Lesser Black-backed. Also last evening a Wilson's Phalarope was found off
of Road D and a Least Bittern was near the bridge on the North side of
Hillman Marsh.

This morning at the Tip the Laughing Gull was still present. In the Tip
Area birders were able to watch a very cooperative Blue-winged Warbler.
Other species seen were a female Scarlet Tanager and a Clay-coloured
Sparrow.

Sightings from the Loop Woods included a Brown Thrasher and several
Warblers, including Tennessee, Bay-breasted, Blue-winged, and Hooded.

The highlight from Tilden Woods was a singing Kentucky Warbler that was
showing very well for many birders. Brewster's and Blackburnian Warblers
were also seen. A Wood Thrush was in full view in the first slough.

A Canada Warbler was just behind the Visitor Centre on the Botham Tree
Trail.

There has been little news from North in the Park but a Northern
Waterthrush and a Tennessee Warbler were seen at DeLaurier.

Good Birding
