This morning at 11.00 a.m. Nigel Shaw and myself found a Western Grebe at
Minet's Point Park in Kempenfelt Bay of the barrie waterfront. There is is
also a 2rd year Glaucous Gull, a number of Red-necked Grebes, 1 Red-throated
Loon and numerous Common Loons.

To get to Minets point Park from Hy 400 get off at Mapleview Rd and go East to
Yonge Street. Turn left and follow Yonge to Minet's Point Road. Turn left and
go to White Oaks Road. Turn left on White oaks and follow it to the park (
about 200 meteres ) Look for the brown wooden sign for the Park entrance.

Ontbirders
Apologies for the late posting. For the last couple of days, a
Yellow-throated Warbler has been coming to a feeder at 163 Evergreen Lane
(the southwest corner of Shoal Point Rd. and Evergreen Lane). The feeder is
visible from the edge of the road thus birders need not walk on the property
of the landowners, Bill & Leonna Noyes (who at this point are birder
friendly). As this is a congested residential area, birders are also asked
to use common sense while parking. The best time to see the bird seems to be
between 0800 - 1200h.
Though located right across the bay from the Presqu'ile Lighthouse getting
to Evergreen Lane is a little tricky. Go south through Brighton (Young St.
becomes Prince Edward St.) to County Rd. 64 which veers to the left. Go past
the Brighton water cleansing lagoons and proceed on County Rd. 64 until the
Murray Canal Bridge after which you make an immediate right turn onto
Barcovan Beach Rd. After approximately 1km, make a right turn onto
Cedardale Road and proceed about 2km where you make another right turn onto
Stoney Point Rd. About 2km along Stoney Pt. Rd. take a left turn onto Shoal
Point Rd. As you approach the lake you will see Evergreen Lane.
