I'm sending this on behalf of Leo Heyens -Kenora CBC Compiler.

I observed the Spotted Towhee yesterday for the first time. The bird has apparently been visiting a couple of local feeders since September, but the local birding community did not become aware of it until it was reported during the count.

Dear Fellow Birders,
This morning a Turkey Vulture was seen flying west near Port Royal, which is
in the Long Point area. While I doubt this bird will stick around, I thought
I would post it as it is a good January sighting.
Directions: Exit the 401 near Woodstock at Hwy 59 and follow it down to the
Long Point area, just before Long Point turn right on Front Rd (west) and
follow west to Port Royal.

A pale-bellied adult peregrine falcon is harassing rock pigeons outside
my window as I type this message at 12:20PM. Intersection of Booth
Street and Carling Avenue near Dow's Lake, Ottawa. First time I have
seen a peregrine at this location this winter. I have lost sight of the
bird - it's probably sitting on the roof of this building - 580 Booth
Street (aka "The Dark Tower").
