Hello, all - I passed through Kingston on Feb. 11 (Sunday), where 2 Queen's students wanted me to identify a "large brown hawk" they had seen over the weekend, clutching a "pigeon" that it had apparently captured. They were not birders, and could give very few useful details, but perhaps it is worth alerting folks to the possibility of a Gyrfalcon in the area, as I think that's what it might have been. The sighting was near the lake, just east of the Queen's campus. However, this is defintely NOT a confirmed sighting. Keep your eyes open, Kingston birders! Cheers, John
