Photographed a male Barrow's Goldeneye in the Ottawa River near Britannia Woods yesterday afternoon. Today we saw dozens (possibly 75-100) American Robins on side roads northwest of Merrickville - many were on the road edge in areas where the snow had melted.
Directions for Britannia Woods: Pinecrest Road (exit 129) off the Hwy 417. Go north on Pinecrest, then turn right (east) onto Richmond Road. After Richmond crosses Carling Avenue, turn left (north) onto Poulin Avenue. Poulin intersects with Britannia Road. Turning right onto Britannia will take you to Cassels Street. Proceed to entrance to Britannia Woods and park. Go through the gate on the north (river side) side of Cassels and take path along river. There are several points where you can overlook the river esp. If you carefully go down the slope to get a clear view. Don Wigle Ottawa
