For those who stayed the day--they were rewarded with the late Golden Eagles. Thanks to our friends from Tennessee, and everyone else who helped to spot and ID the high birds this afternoon. Weather: A clear cold morning. Temperatures started at only 3 C, and warmed to 12.5 C. Winds were predicted from the north all day, but in reality blew mostly from the west with occasional northerly components. A beautiful fall day for those on the tower. Raptor Observations: Our hightlight today was without a doubt the 7 Golden Eagles that migrated through. Five immatures, and two sub-adults made everyone's day on the tower. We had a nice variety of birds today, but modest numbers. Our other stand out of the day was the 5 Male Northern Harriers today. Non-raptor Observations: American Crows were moving in large numbers today 3640...many groupings with over 100 birds. Other birds noted were European Starlings (On the far side of the marsh--several flocks of over 1000 birds were seen.), American Robins, Blue Jays (small numbers, less than 200 noted), American Gold Finch, and a single very high Sandhill Crane. Predictions: Warmer with winds changing toward southerly...maybe it will bring the Peregrines.... ======================================================================== Report submitted by Cindy Isenhoff ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
