Some Windsor friends joined us for a while as well. Weather: Today was a beautiful, almost cloudless day with a low of 9.8 rising to a balmy 16.9 degrees. There was a moderate SW breeze shifting to S and becoming lighter later in the day. Raptor Observations: Migration was minimal until the TVs started flying at about 10am EST. The first few kettles moved down the beach at low elevation, but as expected with the weather conditions the flight moved steadily northward and higher until we were straining to see distant specks. An adult peregrine falcon, while not being counted, provided interest by perching repeatedly on the same branch of the "eagle tree", were it was when we left, and might well be when we get back tomorrow morning. Non-raptor Observations: Many large mixed groups of blackbird species moved through today, as did several thousand Crows and some enormous flocks of Starlings. Tree Swallows and various passerines were seen in small numbers. Predictions: Tomorrow should be very similar to today with winds from the S to SW, a low of 10 and a high of 16, but with cloudy periods in the morning increasing a little in the afternoon. No precipitation is expected. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Don Wiens ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
