Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Don Wiens

Observers:

Weather:
The day was characterized by heavy cloud and limited visibility, with
intermittent fine drizzle falling. Winds were mild to moderate from the
North, suddenly shifting to South at about 1:30 pm. Temperatures ranged
from 11.0 to 12.7.

Raptor Observations:
An adult Peregrine Falcon was enjoying a fresh duck breakfast in the "eagle
tree" when the count began, only to be turfed by one of the local adult
Bald Eagles. It managed to hang on to its meal however. Both of the
Rough-legs were light plumage.

Non-raptor Observations:
About 500 American Goldfinches were counted passing (did I mention it was a
slow day?). A small group made up of 6 White-throated Sparrows, 2 American
Tree Sparrows, a Cardinal pair, and a one of our very vocal resident
Carolina Wrens foraged around the tower together, brightening the day a
little.

Predictions:
Rain all day. Temperature falling from 14 to 9 through the day. Winds
moderate from the South becoming North in the afternoon.
