Weather: There was a stiff SW wind all day today, carrying bands of cloud that caused remarkably rapid shifts from full sunshine to 100% cloud cover several times through the count period. Temperatures ranged from 2.3 to 3.8. There was no precipitation. Raptor Observations: Just a few Redtails today, almost all behaving like Harriers usually do when they see the marsh - dropping down to reed-top level and working the marsh in hopes of a quick meal as they pass through. Non-raptor Observations: A few small flocks of Bonapartes Gull passed, as usual seeming to make light work of the headwind that all other birds were struggling against. Sixteen Tundra Swans were seen passing and about 100 Goldfinches moved through. 6 Eastern Bluebirds perched briefly near the base of the tower, bringing some cheer to a slow day. Predictions: Mostly cloudy with moderate SE winds. Temperature from -5 to +4. No rain or snow expected. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Don Wiens ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
