Hello Ontbirders
Had a great morning birding Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Visibility very good
on Presqu'ile Bay and Popham Bay while Lake Ontario was somewhat more
challenging. Off Owen Point there was a male Barrow's Goldeneye and off the
south west corner off Gull Island a male Harlequin Duck was present. A
Gadwall was observation in a mixed flock of Mallards and American Black
Ducks that were resting on the small pond near the north east corner of Gull
Island. Presqu'ile Bay was open to just north of the Calf Pasture and there
was a good concentration of Greater Scaup 3000+, 1000+ Redhead, 52
Canvasback and a Bald Eagle. Yesterday towards dusk Doug McRae and I
observed 7 Red-winged Blackbirds and 4 Brown-headed Cowbirds come in to
roost at the Brighton Constructed Wetlands. Also, great views of the Barred
Owl at the end of Bayshore road.
                                                       good birding, Bruce

Directions: (courtesy Fred Helleiner)To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park,
follow the signs from Brighton. Locations within the Park are shown on a
map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Gull Island
is no longer an island, the connection to the mainland having been
established several months ago.
