We still have sandhills by the 100's perhaps 1000's in Timiskaming area
particularly around the Hilliardton marsh so be on the look out for their
southward movement

Subject: [Ontbirds]sandhill cranes Powassan

Greetings, A group of about 50 sandhill cranes were resting and browsing in
a corn-stubble field
south-east of Powassan on Sunday morning.

This area is about 35km south of North Bay. Take Hwy 11 to the Chiswick Line
(turn east for 6km),
turn right (south) on Boundary Rd. (2km) then left (east) on Pioneer Rd.
(2km). The farm is on the
north side of Pioneer Rd a few hundred metres east of Bellcairn Rd.
