Evelyn Fisher stopped in for a couple hours. Rayfield Pye from Cranberry Marsh and his brother Donald from Wardsville were very helpful in picking out those high flying Sharpies. A couple from Fredericton, New Brunswick stopped in for a couple hours as did Jane Gamble and Diane Newan from Michigan. There were also a couple dozen other casual visitors over the day. Weather: Mostly clear skies, warm with temperatures from 11 - 23C, light winds mostly out of the East or South-East. Raptor Observations: Slow start, but the TV's finally showed up mid-day, but way to the north. The Sharpies were flying very high and with little to no cloud cover it made them tough to see. First Rough-legged Hawk for the year. Non-raptor Observations: Small movement of passerines in early a.m. including: Ruby-crowned Kinglets; Yellow-rumped Warblers; Eastern Phoebes. First Bufflehead dropped in late in the afternoon. Three species of butterfly: Monarch, Mourning Cload and Orange Sulphur. Predictions: South winds @ 5 - 10 km/h, clear skies and a high of 24C. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Todd Pepper ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
