I watched three probable Cave or Cliff type swallows on the St.Lawrence
River from 3:30pm to 4pm this afternoon from sewage treatment plant in the
village of Cardinal. Unfortunately, the birds were too distant for a
definitive ID (even at 60x) staying entirely on the United States side of
the river. I thought it was relevant to at least give a heads up to keep an
eye out for Cave Swallows likely still at large in Eastern Ontario.
Also, on the St.Lawrence river downstream from Cardinal village was a
Red-necked Grebe.
I may head out again tomorrow and try track down the swallows and with luck
see them on the appropriate side of the river.

Good birding,

Gerard Phillips.
