Run into Tony Bigg at the Marshland Centre in Lakefield and while we were standing around talking Tony pished in a Common Redpoll that we heard. A very large flock (~200) of Pine Siskin were also there.
At the very south end of the Old Young's Point Road, there was a flock of about 40 Cedar Waxwings with at least 4 Bohemians mixed in. The flock was immediately south of the Elwood Hamilton Bus yards. Two Bald Eagles were perched further up the Old Young's Point Rd on the island just south of where Miller Creek empties into Lake Katchewanooka. Anne Anthony Peterborough Directions: Marshland Centre: Take Hwy 29 north into Lakefield and just before the bridge at the lights turn north onto Clementi and the end of Clementi turn right going past the lumber company and then turn north on Hague St. The Marshland Centre is at the end of road before the trailer park. Old Young's Point Rd. As you enter Lakefield, travelling north on 29, the road curves east. On the curve, turn west onto the Bridgenorth Rd. The Old Young's Point Road is the first right (north). Probably not a good idea to stop on the Bridgenorth Road even if you can see the waxwings from there. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
