Hello Ontbirds subscribers,

Today while at LaSalle Park in Hamilton I observed a female BLACK-THROATED BLUE
WARBLER (presumably the one reported to Ontbirds earlier). It was on the far
side of the boardwalk, staying low in the scrubby bushes on either sides of the
trail. I observed it from between 1:00 to 1:20 or so. A BROWN CREEPER was also
in the same general area. 17 species of waterfowl were spotted in the Bay,
highlighted by HOODED MERGANSER, RING NECKED DUCK, and GREATER and LESSER SCAUP.

I visited Millen Road in Stoney Creek later to try to find the King Eider
reported earlier. One female KING EIDER was spotted amongst a few Long-tailed
Ducks. This bird was relatively close to shore and easy to observe. In addition
to the Eider, a juvenile BRANT was loosely associating with a flock of 20 or so
Canada Geese. I have photos that I can email to anyone interested of the Brant
and King Eider. The birds were observed from 3:00 to 3:30 PM.

A flock of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen earlier in the day (9:30 ish) in
the town of Clyde, east of Cambridge. The birds were located in the Evergreens
on the west side of Langford Drive close to where it intersects with Clyde Road.

LaSalle Park is located in Burlington where LaSalle Park Road/Waterdown Road
ends at the north shore of Hamilton Harbor.

Directions to Millen Road (courtesy of Chris Kimber): Millen Avenue can be
accessed from the North Service Rd. of the QEW. It is located just west of
Exit 83 of the QEW - Fruitland Rd. From the Fruitland exit, proceed west along
the service road to the Millen Avenue access on your right, just before the
Millen overpass of the QEW and service road.

Good birding,
