Early this afternoon, Tuesday, January 20th one Boreal Owl was seen deep in
a heavily wooded area of the Amherst Island Owl Woods. It was very
secluded, tucked up against the trunk of the tree and surrounded by many
branches. Once you knew where it was, it was easily visible through the
branches from a safe distance. We are very thankful to the kind birder who
had seen it fly in there earlier in the day and showed us (and others) the
location.
Two Short-eared Owls were also observed in the Owl Woods and 8 Snowy Owls
were seen on various roads throughout the island.
